Hampton Roads VA based Christian rap group “S4C” aka “Soldiers for Christ” aka Gospel Gorilla Gang consists of Terry Butler (E. Dubb) and Corey Rouser (PCK 16). S4C grew-up on the block and became “Brother’s from another Mother” while attending church. The groups chosen genre of music is Gospel hip-hop. As young kids, having to sneak away just to listen to most of it, their influences in music were Nas, Jay Z, Biggie, and Tupac, along with Jay Z, Lil Wayne, and Mobb Deep. But as they grew, Christian rappers Da Truth, Lecrae and Bizzle and were who they most enjoyed and identified with.
Even having a strong Christian foundation couldn’t stop them from being succumbed to the worldly influences of drug dealing, guns, and fast money. The gritty, grimy, street life and debauchery they have experienced allows them to carry hard hitting truth throughout their lyrics. They are the “Prodigal Sons” that have returned home to the Christian family. “S4C came about 8 years ago when Christ saved us”, says E. Dubb.
Over the past decade, the S4C Ministry has performed at many churches, and functions in the local Virginia Area. With a long line of personal setbacks and triumphs Soldiers 4 Christ feel that they are; “Born, bred, built and trained for this musical endeavor” and with a ferocious, hard-edged delivery have dubbed themselves the “Gospel Gorillaz.” S4C’s front line approach to this new calling is paying homage to the pioneers of gospel music past. Ambitious to become the new breed of hardcore front runners who are spreading the Gospel in the present. Their inspirational collaborations include other up and coming artists who work hard and are eager to share quality music with the world.
