A.I. the Anomaly: Soul’s Acrylic Album Review

“Acrylic” the first song off A.I.’s newest release, paints a poetic picture of an imperfect woman in a imperfect world creatively expressing a perfect God on the canvas of music: beats and rhymes. The next headnod track “Eastside” flows effortlessly with sing song tinges of reggae influence over plucked bass steps, walking brush strokes of verbal color hit the listener as A.I. flexes “Who that little lady from the Eastside?” fiyah! No compromise or lies, just Christ truth influencing lives through rhymes is Anomaly’s battle cry over the jazz taps of the song “Facts”.

“Freedom’s Palace” feat. Jered Sanders is a thankful reflection to God for His love and grace towards us even in our messy times, the tempo switch is a welcome change breaking up the song but keeping the same message, “I got all that I need”. I love the warm double snare and fast percussive groove holding the back drop of the reminiscing themed song “Kodak of Memories”, this song embodies the soulful poetic musical art style cementing the albums concept, Soul’s Acrylic, beautiful.

The next track “Don’t Fail Me” starts with A.I. asking “Is that the canvas?” then she brush strokes a heart felt love song digging into the foundational truth about trust needed to grow a healthy relationship. Keeping with the mood but stepping in a different direction drums the piano led “Grab My Hand” feat Zhanna Reed, a helpful hand stretched out over the oceans of hopelessness that can separate people. Spacey jazz mixed with r&b hip hop vibes blesses the singing of A.I. as she lets us know it’s ok to be “Not Ok”. Reading her journal to her curious daughter, A.I. writes about over coming the streets and personal reflections that slide into the hook “I’ve been looking in the couch cushion, I’ve been looking for some change…better days” in the song “Journal Entry Six (better days)”.

God Over Money’s chief Bizzle partners with fiery paced lyrics on the street heater “Relentless”. A head check on accountability and peoples credibility rings on “I’m Just Sayin” feat Selah the Corner. The value of life as a black women is presented with love and respect on “Gold” feat. Eshon Burgundy. Taking care of business, raising kids right, being a faithful wife, and putting God first is the powerful message of “GRWN Women” feat. B. Angelique. A snare dancing groove flow beds the free will lyrics of “Choices”. Gritty rhymes about having purpose and changing lives are weaved over a hypnotic bell toned beat on “Preach”. Thoughts flow freely to a percussive upbeat rhythm on “Ok Ok (free flow session)” a freestyle like throwing colorful splashes of paint to express emotion. God Over Money’s lady of the house A.I. the Anomaly holds her own lyrically, she is definitely artistic with the pen. “Souls Acrylic” has a lot of shining moments and is definitely worth a listen, repeat, listen.

This is A.I.’s third release and I feel like she is just getting started; she has a lot more in the chamber. Check out A.I. the Anomaly “Soul’s Acrylic” on all digital platforms, certified straight ministry heat!
