‘iNTELLECT Blurred Vision ep review’

iNTELLECT – Blurred Vision e.p.
“Blurred Vision” is the second release in 2020 for Ohio’s own iNTELLECT.
The music and concept of this e.p. was conceived from the heart wrenching death of George Floyd, turmoil of riots, brewing civil unrest, exposing of police brutality, and amplified political news, in the midst of an emotionally and physically draining pandemic. iNTELLECT did what he does best; used his voice to present a clear biblical message of hope over banging beats to speak on these events that have brought so much pain and confusion. The lead single “Help Us” is a soulful conversation and prayerful intervention for the Lord to bring comfort, help, healing, and direction needed for us to navigate through these unsettling times. This track really encapsulates the theme of “Blurred Vision” and sets the pace for the e.p.

“Quite Some Time” feat. Philip Anthony is the second track and second single off the e.p. A cleverly chopped vocal sample mixes well with the jazz tapping snare beat and smooth lyrics creating an interesting track about needing to spend more time with God. “Self Destruction” feat. Mr Uni Universal (that’s me;) is a boom bap narrative about the sinful entrapments in society and the sobering idea that we are the cause of our own downfall but with Jesus we can also be the solution to our problems. “Don’t Waste Your Time” a hard hitting, horn and vocal chop driven, scrunch your face beat paves the way for iNTELLECT to express God’s love, grace, and patience.

“Mask Off” feat. Griffin and JusJames, is a play on the idea that we as people hide behind masks as well as the masks we are mandated to wear and the need to take them off. “Joy” feat. Anwar is the perfect ending track with its 70’s style horns and familiar piano loop. This track comforts the listener through these trialing times with the message “joy comes in the morning, amen! “Blurred Vision” is the soundtrack for the craziness that has been the year 2020. iNTELLECT’s latest e.p. is another repeat banger for the collection, definitely worth the download when its released November 11th, 2020. “Blurred Vision” is certified straight ministry heat!
