Julian Awari is an accomplished Gospel singer/songwriter originally from Virginia Beach, Virginia currently living in Wichita, Kansas. Son of Denise, father to Sasha (5) and Asher (6), his older brother Nico recognized Julian’s gift of singing when he was only six years old. However, it wasn’t until after graduating high school in 2003, that Julian finally made the decision to dedicate his time and talents to the Lord.
Moving forward, Julian focused on developing his music ministry while also establishing a career in the Air Force and raising his young family. In 2009, at age twenty-four, Awari became a licensed and ordained youth pastor in Virginia. In 2012, he auditioned for BET’s Sunday Best and was selected as one of the top 20 finalists for season 5. With enthusiasm still high from his Sunday Best television appearance, Julian launched his debut CD Identity in 2013. He also accepted a new position as a youth pastor, moving his family to Miami, Florida where he served from 2013 through 2014. In 2015, Awari joined the United States Air Force. Following basic training, he relocated to McConnell Air Force base in Wichita, Kansas as an active duty Boom Operator.
In September 2017, Awari debuted his first music video, Give You My Heart. To date, it has been viewed over 57,000 times on YouTube. This was a significant milestone in his music career, and one he took great pride in fulfilling. He has since then released two follow-up videos, Through The Night, launched in April 2018 and Visions in June 2018. All three singles are part of Julian’s sophomore album, Beneath the Surface, IS OUT NOW!
Though launching a music career as an independent artist without a management team can seem daunting, Awari has chosen to embrace the challenge. He has surrounded himself with a team of talented, supportive friends and family members who are excited to help him accomplish his mission: to use music to encourage others and effectively share the Gospel of Jesus Christ from a larger platform. According to Julian, encouragement is important because, as President Theodore Roosevelt so aptly put it, “No one cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
