Poetic Lace – How You Do That ft. RIZM

Who is Poetic Lace?

Poetic Lace, born Le’Serone Smith, came into this world February 8, 1988 in Compton California. He, his mother Monika Logan (now Monika Clary, a play and film writer), and younger brother Johnny Smith, moved to Jacksonville Florida shortly after the murder of his father, Trennis “Pretty P.T” Smith Woodman, nephew of the late Johnny “Guitar” Watson. Trennis “Pretty P.T” Smith Woodman was a young rap artist and producer on the rise, touring around the world under the tutelage of the legendary Grammy Award winner, Johnny “Guitar” Watson. In Jacksonville, Le’Serone, his mother and brother moved in with his adopted grandparents, Ann and Andrew Logan. Ann Logan was a licensed cosmetologist who owned her own beauty salon for over 25 years, and a very active civil servant who oversaw many electoral proceedings and political issues. Her husband, Andrew Logan, was an ordained minister who fought in World War II and marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In honor of all of his hard work, a housing development was erected in his name, “The Logan Plaza”, which is located in Compton, California. Both were very active members in the body of Christ, constantly exalting Jesus as Lord. Up until their deaths, Le’Serone was one of their primary care providers. Insulin shots for diabetes, changing diapers, preparing food, constant hospital trips are just a few of the task Le’Serone had to work on a daily basis. He spent his childhood days caring for his grandparents, playing Pop Warner football for North Jax, hanging out with friends, and going to school. Le’Serone was a hard worker in school; always making the honor roll, and a fierce competitor on the football field. During one season, Le’Serone badly fractured his wrist in the season opener. Not wanting to sit out nor let his team down, Le’Serone asked his coaches to hide his casted wrist with a long-sleeved glove and padding so the referees couldn’t keep him off the field. Le’Serone had an all-star season for the team playing multiple positions on both offense and defense, winning the Iron Man award that season
